Our Story

We are in the unique position in the Stroud area of providing learning, care and support for children aged birth-7 and their families.

Our school began life as a church primary school. This beautiful Cotswold stone building is still with us today, complete with the separate girls and boys entrances!

Over time the school grew, new buildings were added and for many years temporary classrooms were used. In 1973 the separate infant and junior schools were formed.

The building projects continued with all of the temporary classrooms finally being replaced in 2000.

In 1989 the Family Centre was established. The staff team were appointed and given the paint to transform a derelict part of the old school building into an early years environment themselves. Thanks to the hard work of this small team, their families and volunteers the Family Centre opened to local families with children under 5 on time.

Our School and Centre have adapted and changed over the years in order to continue to meet the changing needs of the young children of Stonehouse and their parents. However, one thing hasn’t changed, that is our determination to always provide the very best education, care and support for children and families.

Our school and early years provision has been judged by Ofsted to be ‘outstanding’ and our Children’s Centre to be ‘good’

Today we are very proud of our heritage, our high quality provision , our fantastic building and gardens and mostly the achievements of our children and parents.
