At Stonehouse Park Infant School we believe our children should have opportunities to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. We believe that P.E. lessons can build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
Our children are taught to master basic movements including running, jumping, throwing and catching as well as developing balance, agility and coordination and begin to apply these in a range of activities.
Pupils are encouraged to develop simple tactics for attacking and defending in team games and can create simple movement patterns. The children are physically active for sustained periods of time developing strength and stamina.
They perform dances using simple movement patterns.
Pupils are taught to be confident in the water and be aware of water safety. They continue to develop a range of strokes effectively.
Finally, all our children are taught to be aware of how to lead healthy, active lives and importantly, every child recognises their own success.
