Early Years Foundation Stage at Stonehouse Park Infant School
At Stonehouse Park Infant school in Reception we want the best start for your child.
We want children’s learning to be happy, active, exciting, fun and based upon play based learning. Your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through the seven areas of learning and development.
From birth until 5, children in the Foundation Stage follow the Early Years Foundation Stage.
The three prime areas are:
Communication and language
Personal, social and emotional development
The four specific areas are:
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design
These seven areas are used to plan your child’s learning and activities and the teachers will make sure that the activities are suited to your child’s unique needs and interests. Children in the EYFS learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside.
We are very lucky at Stonehouse Park to have a fantastic outside area and range of outdoor spaces that the children can use throughout the school, with a wide variety of resources to enhance their learning.
