Enriching Childrens Learning
We want our children to be inspired, enthused and motivated learners.
Our outdoor area supports learning across the curriculum. We have created a wildlife and pond area, a secret garden, story making area, willow tunnels, quiet seating areas and vegetable garden where children grow, harvest, cook and eat their own produce.
We have incorporated the Forest School philosophy into our work with children of all ages. They are given opportunities to be adventurous and take risks safely. The children attend Forest school sessions throughout the year , experiencing all weathers and changing seasons.
Staff plan learning activities outside which cover all areas of the curriculum. This builds confidence, self-esteem and a love of the natural world.
We make use of our local community by taking children out and about to learn. We visit the library, town council, post office, Doverow Hill etc. We also take children on trips further away e.g. Forest of Dean, Weston-Super-Mare and invite people in to share their skills and expertise with us e.g. artists, wildlife experts, museum staff.
For children in school we run a variety of extra-curriculum clubs. This will change from year to year depending on the interests of the children. Most of these clubs are run by staff but we also host clubs run by specialist coaches and trainers. Check our newsletters for the clubs we are running currently.
